I’m just watching the highlights of today’s stage, and there was a comment about Chris Boardman saying that so many riders are falling on corners due to everyone riding on carbon rims.

What’s that about, can someone enlighten me please?

Brakes grip funny in the wet – a bit like braking on ceramic rims on a CX bike – as the rim dries when the brake blocks grip, the braking force goes from nothing for ages to full on skid in a very short space of time – not much modulation (well none!)

Why do carbon rims make tdf riders crash?

Never mind that, what about the poor, damaged road?
