….asking for £61 back from 2 years ago. Not working tax credits but child tax credits. £10 a week or month or something, the good lady got it paid into her account. Never asked for it, we just qualified or it was something everybody got.
Anyway it got chopped a while back by condems and now I have a letter asking for money back as they overpaid me. Every year they sent out 2 big pamphlets (one for me, one for mrs) to read and send back if anything had changed or we had had such a massive pay rise that suddenly we didn’t qualify for the £50k threshold (we can but dream).
Nothing much altered so we never responded, now they have decided that I owe them money.

Anybody else had one? Or should I be awaiting a knock on the door in the middle of the night?

Murky world. Possibly depends what ‘nothing much’ means.

This sums it up well (possibly don’t bother ringing, just write and send recorded)
