Anyone get one of these ‘ooh sorry, calculated it all wrong a while back, can we have some money please’ letters?

my brother got stung for about £3K a year ago.

About 6 or 7 years ago I got one for about £1200 which just didn’t look right so I hired an accountant (through work, cost me £150) and redid all my tax returns for the previous 5 years as well and then submitted them all along with a request for the money they actually owed me. Wasn’t a huge amount but enough to buy a new set of wheels and a whole lot better than paying them money.

If it’s significant then I’d get someone to look through their numbers, you don;t have to take what they’re saying as gospel.

My dad just got some cash back from 2 years ago, shame he died in August and he can’t enjoy it 🙁

I got one of these 2 years back.
They’d miscalculated my national insurance and wanted about £4k iirc. Gits.

Got £600 back from the tax man, then the TA told me they’d overpaid me £500 over the last 5 years but would like it back in one go. That’s life eh!
