I’ve got some bits and pieces hanging around the shed which are functionally fine but look tatty, and I’m wanting to put them on a new frame.

So any suggestions for making them look nice?

Eg black Mavic 717 rims and Thomson seat post

The rims have some minor scuffs. Annoyingly the seatpost has a few scratches caused swarf in the seat-tube but has hardly been used.

Any paint worth trying, or car touch up?

well both are anodised rather than painted..

you could remove the anodising and polish the rims (if you have no life 😛 )

Any paint on a seat post is going to come off straight away.

I use a black permanent marker pen on scratches in annodising. You can build up colour with layers.

You could prob paint the rims OK, but again, marker pen might work.

A good polish with GT85 always works a treat.
