Ok the subjcet is an old Tandem that i got purely on a whim as saw it for sale at silly money as it had not been used for years and left outside/butchered with odd bits .

It had 26" wheels originally , and was a road bike .

The Question is could i put a set of spare MTB wheels i have kicking around in to it ,rear dropouts just need spacing a bit ,and it need new brakes anyway, then poss find some old forks to fit it .

Would only be used as occasional basis , light use on tourist type trails not heavy off road stuff so don't want to spend fortune on it ???

    ANY SUGGESTIONS !!!!!

Forks are a real issue especially if you put discs on it – they take an awful lot of stress. Old cheap forks might well collapse

Any pics? The bike might be something interesting.

No reason why not put the MTB wheels on it however.

You want to make sure the brakes work on the rims!

Will dig it out of the cellar when i'm home over the weekend a take some pics n post em up.

Was one of those moments of weakness when you just have to have a second look, knowing fullwell your going to buy it anyway 🙄

old 26 inch rims are 590 or 597 not 559 so the brakes may be a problem
