    Anyone had these guys round?

This chap came to mine while I was out walking the dog and totally freaked my wife out.
Basically asking for all the details of our phone/broadband and filling out the change providings docs without even asking her if she wanted to!

She ended up telling him to get out of the house (why she let him in in the first place, I don't know).

    Beware!

why she let him in in the first place, I don't know

Precisely. They are scum – even worse than the ones on the other end of a phone.

the called around the other day whilst i was at work, the wife kindly told them that they would need to speak to me so returned after i'd finished work.
what a knob, wouldn't take no for an answer in the end i told him to get off my property and shut the door in his face.

Do the same as what I do whenever you get collared by anyone trying to sell you anything. Got caught on Leeds station the other week by someone trying to get me to change to Southern Electric or something. Told em I work for British Gas. Also told TalkTalk reps I work for BT etc

Im with Talk Talk and have been for some time, they did send someone round once just as I'd got in the door, soaked from riding back from work.
Turned out to be someone i'd worked with the year before (I work in Telecoms) so she knew not to try and give me the hard sell.
I use them becuase they are cheap and the sesrvice is generally good.
However I had one of their south african salemen call me up and try and flog me their broadband and then pretty much argued with me that I'd be a fool not to take up their offer of savings. I ended up telling him i didnt want their broadband as they had a shit rep in the industry! That kinda shut him up!

I NEVER buy anything from people come round door to door, my father in law however, cant seem to say no! He's changed his gas supplier 3 times in the last year or so. FFS.

And stabbing them in the heart with a stake wouldn't be a bad thing either.

    It's easy.

    /knock knock

    "Hi I'm from blah"

    "Not interested goodbye"

"But you haven't heard what we have to offer"

    "That's because I'm not interested"

    "Sir we can save £££££££"

"How do you know I haven't told you anything yet as I'm not interested."

    shut the door

or just shut the door as so as they say they're sales people.

I have had to threaten that I'd use force to remove them from my property as I had already asked them to leave. That often works well, bizarrely it was a Mormon who didn't like that and started to get aggressive.

Invite them in and ofer them a drink, put on a porno movie, they soon go, im told.

Strangely there is now 2 talk talk adverts at the side of the screen, with a flashing advert for stiff.

I think the same bloke had come round earlier when I was in and when the dog ran to the door barking, he walked off before I opened it.
Must be his tactic to get his way in the door as soon as possible.

I am of the opinion that if everyone refused to buy things at the door/ over the phone then we would not have these folk wasting our time.

Are they independent and solely on commission?

Back when we first could switch energy providers some of these guys were caught forging switching docs for people. I had one that said if you sign here it means you're interested in getting more info but it was the switching doc.

I don't let them waste my time, but they're only trying to do a job so I'm not rude to them unless they demand it.

My late Grandfather was a cracking guy and had a great sense of humour. to this day I dont know if the following was a wind up or not:

He lived with me for a while, but was often alone during the day. One day he invited a couple of Jehovahs witnesses in to the house (much to their surprise, apparently) and made them a cup of tea. They shot the breeze for a few minutes until JW1 fires in with the question " So, do you think we'll ever see an end to conflict in this world?". He replied "Not until we get rid of all this religion sh!te, no."

JW1 and JW2 apparently made their excuses and swiftly departed, complete with their copies of the watchtower..
