Had a look at Pennine-Cycleway, but wondered how much follows the traditional bobble hatters route? Any experiences, good or bad?

Do you really mean the Pennine Cycleway ? That's for roadies (quiet lanes, canal towpaths, etc)
The Pennine Bridleway is much more interesting (in places), although it's not yet finished in the northern reaches
