The kids bike has got old style QR dropouts … with the 5mm skewer
Various googling seems to show that these might or mint not be usable with a different axle however half of this seems to be 5+ years old… and whether syntace was going to stick work etc.??

I’m looking at getting a new set of wheels as he shares them across 2 bikes but the current Superstar 20% off has no stock on QR for the rear…. (and hasn’t for months) …

If SS have the 10mm rear adapter in stock you can use a DT Swiss 10mm QR through bolt instead-

If you have a 135×12 rear hub you can convert it to 135mm QR standard by sticking one of these in the hub.

Obviously 142×12 or 148×12 wont fit as the hubs axle is too wide to fit the frame.
