Im getting pain/soreness in my right palm area, may be carpal tunnel but not sure. Currently using Ritchey Ergo foam grips but thinking i may need a bit more support?? Anyone else using Ergon on their AM bike?

Brilliant - got pairs on 2 bikes. Great palm support for longer distances. My wife also loves em - when she changes her bike the Ergons have to switch too.

I like ergon, for long periods sat peddaling you can rest you whole hand on the bar. In combination with bar-ends they are even better IMO.
One problem i do have with them is when the going gets fast and rough. Due to the palm support your fingers (if they are long) will not be able to fully clench round the grip as your fingers will hit the underside of the palm support. This sort of forces you to hold your hand in only one place and since you set-up the grips for comfort when sitting, this means your hands might not feel comfortable when standing and trying to deal with very technical trails.
Of course this may not be applicable if you have smaller hands but it annoys me enough that i took them off my AM bike, so ive now only got them on the XC bike. I use the GX series, found the older rounder GP and GC ones were not as comfortable (flat) for me, and they were also fatter so the problem above was worse (for me at least).

I like them for long road rides. I don't find them very confidence inspiring when braking downhill in the wet (road) because my hands have a tendency to slip forwards off them due to the design and the angle I need them mounted in order to be comfortable. Only thumbs are hooked behind the bar holding them back, as palms are supported on the horizontal platform of the grips and don't curl around the back of the bar at all. This gets quite tiring. Also as Stato says, not good for standing up.

I think the GX series has more room for fingers to wrap around so you do get enough grip, tho only in one hand position (this is usually fine but not for really tech stuff).
