Basically I have bare- satin black plastic wing mirrors (bare plastic essentially). I've found the same wing mirror but its sprayed gloss black.

Anyone have any tips to remove the paint without scratching the surface? Is it possible? Nitromores would degrade the plastic?

Nitromors will probably degrade the plastic.

It would be easier if you knew what paint it was you were trying to remove. My suggestion would be to try some solvents, carefully.

Google recommends nail varnish remover (both the acetone and non-acetone versions- read the labels) and white spirits type products. Maytbe google some car repainting products as they may have this problem and have found a solution. If you get desperate you could try nitromers very carefully not allowing it to stay on for more than a few seconds, or light sanding.
