I’ve posted earlier about looking at getting a used Trek Fuel.
Test rode it yesterday and was very impressed.
Looks like the hardtail’s days are numbered.
My question is, the Trek is 1×10 boost.
The Bird is 1×11 non boost.
Can I straight swap the drive trains over without upsetting chainlines etc?
Or just sell the Bird complete and upgrade the Fuel?

Don’t think you can swap everything as I’m pretty sure boost cranks are wider.
You can swap everything else though.

Isnt there a way that you can just change the chainring to a 3-6mm offset non boost ring?
Pretty sure that boost rings are non offset although Im not sure if that is the only thing that makes boost different or not.
    Worth researching though

So it’s not a case of putting respective spacers on the chainrings to put them back in line?

    What crank is it?

Sram/Raceface Cinch can be changed to boose with a swap of a ring.

Others might not e eas two swap – but the chainline might end up Ok regardless, depending on tyre/chainstay clearance

Depends what parts you have. The SRAM Boost chainline is 52mm. That’s 3mm further outboard at the ring than the 49mm non-Boost standard.

Some rings will automatically compensate by flipping over, or you could buy a new chainring to suit or put 3mm of washers between the ring and crank (you should check if you need bigger chainring bolts if going this…)

If you have enough chainstay clearance for the non-boost cranks on the boost frame then yes, and as a bonus, you’ll actually get better chainline than if you used a boost crankset.

    See this page.

Thanks for all your replies lads.
Thinking now that I’ll sell the Bird complete and upgrade the Trek.
Anyone want to buy a 2017 Zero TR NX build
    Medium size.
