I have a Deore Shadow+ short cage rear mech with an original RAD cage fitted. I also have an unused XT Shadow+ rear mech, long cage. I am wondering if I can fit the RAD cage outer and the Deore inner on the XT mech?

Hi – I recently swapped a Shimano 105 medium cage (from a damaged mech) for a 105 short cage to increase the gear range. You may be able to swap a set of outer & inner cages – but it may be a big ask to swap in different outer & inner cages.

Cheers John, I know the RAD cage outer will fit as its compatible with Deore and XT, but I’m not sure if the Deore inner is the same as the XT inner.

Also my Deore is medium cage not short cage, just checked.

Worked fine in case anyone stumbles onto this in the future. Apparently Deore / SLX and XT of a similar year all fit each other.
