I haven’t ridden a straggler, but had a cross check and they are very similar, but the Straggler has discs.
I ran 29×1.8s on mine, but tended to stick to 700x 35s for off road. It was quick and nibble, but not the lightest. I tried lots of different set ups and most inspired confidence off road, this included not just fire roads and bridleways, but also trail centres. Even loaded up with bivi kit it was great.
