Arse cream? never seen it in my lbs, they were obviously just doing you a favour by pointing you toward boots. Between that and the 29er tube they probably twigged that you were a bit of a wierdo and decided to ask you for a tube at £6 as a joke which you took seriously, probably because you are a humorless arrogant arse, much loved by bike shop staff.
The more I think about it, the more I want to support my lbs. Do we really want to get to the stage when the only place where we can see bikes before we buy them is on the internet?
Bike shops are full of wonderful characters and good atmos...and if you don't agree you just need to try another that caters to dicks....they are out there. Oh yes.
CRC did some pretty dubious things to get where they are, and yes their warehouses are vast. Sure, you might save a few quid by shopping at crc but what are you getting in return other than the product you purchased? what are you putting back? The more we shop at our lbs the better they will do, and we will all benefit accordingly.
