‘How good’ is this wheelset which has Alex rims?

Has anybody used a set for mixed lumpy single track and road usage?

Am pondering mixing a set with a Cotic Escapade frame and BB7’s

    Thanks

I’ve had a pair of Switch AM wheels since 2008 and they’ve been used for XC, DH and dirt jumping, they’ve have the axles swapped from QR, 20mm and 15mm and are still straight and true without need for any bearing changes. And they get jet washed now and again when I’m lazy.

Superstar wheels are fine, until you have to make a warranty claim…

The trick is to consider them basically a build kit rather than neccesarily a functional wheel set- I’ve got a set of their 29er XC wheels on my hybrid, the rear’s spoke tension was terrible from new and unsurprisingly it instantly went out of true despite never getting used on anything rougher than a canal path. The front’s actually not bad at all though. COnsidering the price, I’m not unhappy with that- it’s poor, obviously, but it works out OK

Superstar do offer a truing/rebuilding service which I’ve not taken them up on, to be fair.
