Swarms of insects getting stuck in my teeth.
Hordes of gormless, miserable-looking ramblers all over the trails.
Sunburn.
Endless muggy, drizzly overcast days punctuated by the occasional hurricane.
Nettle stings and bramble scratches.
Trails that are dry enough to be technically rideable, but not dry enough to be much fun.I'm not very good at this, sorry. I actually quite like winter...

My body seems happier in the cold than hot for some reason
Still looking forward to evening rides and decent beer served in proper pubs

Walking or cycling for the day, camping out miles from anywhere with the sun shining and a light breeze so that it's warm but not too hot. Cooking on a little gas stove while watching the sun go down and then going crawling into the sleeping bag exhausted, a little bit sunburnt but very happy.
Getting up the next morning and doing it all again...
... but this is Scotland so I'm more likely to get rained on, lose half my kit in a river crossing that has turned into a raging torrent, fail to get the stove lit because the lighter was among the stuff that got swept away. Crawl into the damp sleeping bag while cold, wet and hungry and itching from the midge bites. Wake up the next morning to find a sheep has eaten a hole in the tent and then go home miserable, swearing never to go camping again.

Nothing. I'm refusing to get my hopes up about long summer evenings on dusty trails, an ice cold beer afterwards. Not having to wash the bike after every ride. Tan lines. Finally getting the Swampthings off. Morzine in the sun.

We just have a less cold part of the year! I don't think I wore anything less than two layers of lycra at any point last year. Looking forward to some fair weather road cycling this summer!

Looking outside and really wanting to ride, rather than looking outside and figuring I should ride but don't really want to.
