I’ve been using a combo of Schwalbe Fat Albert front and Nobby Nic rear (both 2.4″) on my 150 travel bike this winter and it’s worked a treat.

Thinking now of getting something faster rolling for the summer that can still handle the wet conditions we’re no doubt going to still have to content with. I was thinking moving the Nic to the front and getting something like a Rocket Ron for the rear, but I hear Contintental Mountain Kings are a good bet for all round balance of grip versus speed.

Anybody got any advice or suggestions?

XR4’s were rolling well last night and have been OK in the mud.

Love Kenda’s slant 6 on the back… Very fast but also surprisingly good in mud, as it doesn’t clog up- it’s basically just a slick with little teeth. Looks like certain death on the front mind! Used to swear by smallblocks but these are better IMO, barely any slower but much grippier in some circumstances.

Front, can’t really recommend, I’m too used to big grippy tyres to go very summery on the front.

Yeah Mountain King 2s are ace.

    Very versatile and predictable.
