I accidentally stumbled across that movie once 😯

I’ve used these in developing countries a fair amount, and never had a shock off them. They are obviously flakey as hell, but I figured if the locals are using them day-in-day-out then they can’t be *that* dangerous. Bare twisted wires above the water flow is a fairly common way of joining them to the electrical supply, you have to be careful not to splash droplets up there or they sizzle nicely.

I’ve seen those in some developing countries. Scary as hell. Usually wired up to a nearby plug socket for added fear factor. Definitely an incentive to make sure you use the shower curtain carefully.

The scariest shower I’ve seen was at an offgrid mountain hut / hostel thing in iceland. They had rigged up a shower using a partially dismantled domestic boiler linked up to a calor gas bottle. It was right beside the shower and you could see the flames when the boiler when on as all the cladding had been taken off. Oh and the flue vented into the shower room. A real incentive to keep the shower short.

They are pretty common in South America and somewhat in Asia… Its best not to touch them when they are running as they will shock you…
