A friend of mine is doing 12 challenges in 12 months to raise money for Cancer Research UK. He has already completed the tough mudder North West Assault course, run two marathons and a 50,000m indoor row. He is now looking for a mountain biking challenge, preferably in the North. What have you masochists got?

Coast to Coast – the Woodcock Route. two hundred odd miles, including carrying over high lakeland passes and passing through the yorkshire dales and north yorks moors. Make it tougher and more masochistic to taste be reducing / increasing the number of days it is done over.

I’ll give him a free entry to the WRT in May or the Bear Bones 200 in Oct.

How about jumping a load of double decker buses? That’s quite a challenge.

How good is he? Get him to come up and do the endurance downhill at fort william, if he’s decent… Nothing else like it.

Southern Upland Way would be another coast to coast route that could be v challenging if taken at pace. No idea what a fast time would look like – between 2 and 3 days prob.
