Following on from this thread,, if you are or have been a runner, post up your best times for the standard distances (100m to Marathon for whichever events you’ve done) and let’s see who’s fastest.

Mine are from about 15 years ago:

    800m: 1:53.9
    1500m: 3:55.2
    5k (track): 15:50
    10k (road): 33:19

I was a much better runner than I am a cyclist!

Out my office, down the stairs along the hall and into the lounge to stop the cat hacking a fur ball up on the sofa: 6 seconds

    is today’s best effort.

I’ve only ever run under duress, tbh.

wwaswas – lol – I can relate to that! (both cat and duress)

    400m 1:17
    800m 2:50
    Mile 5:51
    5k 20:38 (did 20.20 over 5k in a sprint tri, but won’t include that)
    5M 33:57
    10k 43:55
    10M 1:13:34
    Half 1:36:06

I’m a cyclist though now, my 22.11 10 mile TT is a better performance than all of those though.

Think I got 1:25 in a half marathon a few of years ago when I was a smoker.

Haven’t done a road race for years so can’t comment.

Started running in March last year, ran my first marathon in August, and a half in September

    Half 1:23:40
    Mara 2:59:36

Hoping to improve on those, the marathon was a hilly one and I was pacing myself for 3 hours.

Funnily I started triathlon last year too, with a 70.3 in September, and discovered that I’m a better runner than biker, which was a surprise 😮

    Cheers, Rich

That’s a whole other thread, this is for your PBs. I for one could not say what I could run for any distance now, as I haven’t run for many years due to injury.

Thanks for that Rich,I was about to post up my times from when I was 23 ,but that would be pointless now ( you fast Barsteward 😛 )

41min for cross crountry 10k a couple years ago. Did a few 5milers also cross country and clocked around 35min. I was timed for a mile once and did 6’30” but that was the part of a fitness test so I had to save some for the other exercises -the last being two minutes of burpees which I did 56 just to chip that in 😛

I ran a very fast set of times for the 100m in my yoot. Can’t remembr the exact times but our coach was pretty excited and a couple of bods came to watch me at my local athletics club. Unfortunately a few months later i smashed my left ankle whilst cross country running and didn’t ever compete again due to massive ligament damage. such is life but my messed up ankle was the main reason I got into bikes so can’t complain really.

Times set age 16-17, by 18 I was at uni and on the booze wagon!

    400m – 55.5
    800m – 1.59.4
    1500m – 4.02
    5000m track 15:30, road 15:15
    5 mile road – 25:25
    10k road 32:30

I had a crap sprint which is obvious by that 400m time, but I trained hard and still feel like a runner at heart even if the knees don’t let me do it now.

I was unlucky enough not to run for Scotland’s XC team, though I entered two internationals as an open entry and beat 2-3 of the scottish team each time.

I hate people like you, complete naturals. It taken me two years of training, running over 1000 miles per year, and I still haven’t cracked 4 hours for a marathon. Although my half is down to 1:46.

Fair play though, cracking times! 🙂 Did you really start from complete scratch running? You must have had an existing endurance fitness base.

My times are slow compared to the rest of you

    5k 22:16
10k 53:09 (but have gone much faster in training since, that’s just the last official race time)
    Half-marathon 1:46:08
Marathon 4:58:26 (but went through marathon distance in the below 50k in 4:30)
    50k 5:51:21

Target for this year is 3:40 in Brighton Marathon, sub-1:40 in a half, sub 5h 50k. Should be achievable.

I’m sure if I’d trained really hard in my youth I’d have some really fast times to post up…the older I get the better I was.

Managed a 13.5 in the 100m last year not bad at 42.

I try and stay away from road running and the pain it gives me so long and off road is my thing, results last year were,

9:41 Lakeland 50 (want to go sub 9 this year)
4:12 3 peaks fell race (sub 4hr this year)23.3 miles
    4:13 Edale Skyline 21.5 miles
8:33 Tour De Helvellyn 38 miles

Gonna beat all those times this year 🙂

I think my best was under 12 seconds. Ran a half decent 200m too. Any further than that, I walked or cycled 😀

10k – 46minutessomething. It was a ‘hilly’ and the only time I’ve ever run competitively.

I’m a cyclist though now, my 22.11 10 mile TT is a better performance than all of those though.

21:14 for a 10mile TT here. Though Jedi can p155 on that from a great height 🙂

    haha rule 42 🙂

…Also keep in mind that one should only swim in order to prevent drowning, and should only run if being chased. And even then, one should only run fast enough to prevent capture.
