I’m currently doing my shower room, and have come scross a potential problem. My ceiling is at 2.2 m above my new floor tile level. The room has a solid concrete floor so my only options for the shower tray are 1) to chop out a channel in screed and have no access to waste pipe in future or 2) build a wooden frame to lift the tray above the floor. However, with the frame, 18mm ply and the tray, i’ll have ~2.1m to the ceiling. The highest the shower head can go is 70mm below the ceiling, giving 2.03 m from tray to shower head. Is this enough? what is the norm for shower headroom? When i stand at the proposed tray level, it seem very high compared to the ceiling.

Dig a channel in the concrete…the tray will look much better! If everything is fitted correctly you should never need access to the pipe.
