Right i’ve ordered a new Deore front disc brake which is coming with an adaptor for a 180mm rotor. I have an Avid 180 rotor at the moment……will it be okay or do i need to but a Shimano one?

    Sorry for the stupidity 😳

    You’ll be fine.

Should be okay, I’ve run Avid discs with deore brakes and Avid brakes with tektro and no-name discs before. If the diameters are the same any differences in width of the disc should be allowed for in the setting up of the caliper itself.

    Not a stupid question either!

so long as your avid rotor is definitely 180 and and not one of the older ones at 185, you’ll be fine.

    It’s from an Elixr 3, i’m sure it’s 180

Try, check and see if the pads cover the rotor surface.
