hello gents. first time poster, please be gentle.
i don't really do forums but i was hoping to get some first hand experience about a bike i'm looking at but have a few reservations about.
i can have a brand new 2011 stumpjumper evo for £2000 (reduced from £3000) which has swayed me from "that's a bloody nice bike" to "i could have that right now!".
i've ridden a few spesh demo bikes but not the evo and to be honest i loved them. i tried the enduro which i thought was my kind of bike (emphasis on DH style hooligan behaviour) and then the stumpjumper which was lighter and faster in most places and surprisingly every bit as fun and capable in the rough stuff. considering the bike will spend 90% of its time in britain and not the alps the stumpy is probably the more useful bike. but i reckon the evo is the perfect middle ground.
one thing i'm not sure about is the reliability of the fox suspension. i know they work beautifully when new but i occasionally work at a mates bike shop and i see a massive amount of horrible, knackered fox forks and shocks. i don't mind a bit of DIY servicing but i don't want to be sending them to mojo and paying big bills every few months.
and roval wheels? never heard of them. i'm wondering if they'd be easy to pass on via ebay or something since i've got some lovely newish hope hoops that i'd rather use.
basically, i just want to know anything about them and i'd love to hear from anyone who's riding one. is there any other similar lightweight/hooligan hybrid that i could consider for the same price?
cheers
