    Hi,

I’m trying to take the x type cranks off my road bike. All the instructions say insert 8mm allen key and turn counter clock wise.

    I’ve tried that
I’ve tried with my extra long 8mm alen key
I’ve tried a block under the pedals the alen key plus and extension

It’s sitting in some wd40 now while I have my dinner

    Any other suggestions?

    Cheers

Hi Martin, think an allen key socket and rachet is the way to go.Raceface SixC on my Turner, works for me. More leverage than a plain allen key

Are the instructions for the crank or the crank bolt removal?

Is it a old type, x type?

Does it have a 10mm outer bolt that you extract it with?

If so check this pdf out:

They do seat tight on the taper,if it’s that type. Normally give it a bang with my palm to break it off the taper. Did you grease it well as per the fitting instructions?

It is that one from the enduro seals link.

I found a longer lever (curtain rail) and that did the trick

    Cheers for the suggestions

    Martin
