    A mate has just bought a bike for his son which needs stripping adown and repainting , any advice the cheaper the better.

    Its gonna be a DIY job , hes thinking of using "paint stripper" dont know which one , bit of sanding and a spray can respray/ laquer. Just wondered if there was anything to watch out for or tips ( not the one were druid said he should put it)

    No need to strip except rusty parts.

    No idea what paint is toughest, maybe hammerite smooth?

    You can get a good finish but not a durable one.

    Nitromors is the toxic gunge of choice for paintstripping.

    In case it's not obvious… it's a messy job, best done outdoors!

    Once the frame is stripped, take it to a powdercoaters. They'll blast over it and do it any colour you want for about £35 if it's a small frame. Turnaround is a couple of days tops and it'll look better than new.
    I'll strip and powdercoat a frame for £45. I find nitromorsing quite therapeutic, but then I'm weird like that.
