I’ve got an 09 SX Trail frame that I want to strip of it’s existing copper coloured laquer, it’s not a job that I want to do myself with Nitromors etc. I have found a place in Birmingham that can do a chemical strip for £20 but they are unable to polish and clear coat.
Would I need to remove the main frame bearings before it’s chemically stripped as I don’t intend on keeping them anyway?
Can anyone recommend somewhere in B’ham or surrounding area that could polish and clear coat the frame after it’s been stripped? also, if I want decals applied under the clear coat does anyone know of a company that produces them? [not vinyl self adhesive ones]
Lots of questions I know but i really want to get it right.

Bearings would have to come out before stripping IMO. Depending on what chemicals they use, it could eat right through the seals and/or the grease. Or if some sort of water based stripping compound, rust the bearings.

I can’t help on any of tyour other questions, though.

£20 to strip is a good price , do the rest yourself no need for clearcoat IMHO

http://www.slikgraphics.com do some really good quality stickers. Not sure if they can be lacquered over but might be worth asking the question. They can do custom sets too
