After some ideas at what to put at the rear of a stove.
Currently set on a sandstone hearth on a flat wall (no recess)
It’s about 6 inches away from the wall which is wallpapered. The paper is lifting due to the heat, so when we decorate in the new year would like to put something on the wall to stop this and add a bit of a feature.
Would quite like slate. Anyone have any design ideas or have something similar?

depends on your overall decor but glass painted whatever colour you like on the reverse is easy to keep clean and heat proof.

I would genuinely be remedying the paper now before the **** sets on fire. 6 inches for flappy paperis no distance at all from a stove in full heat mode 😯

Wrightyson, the paper at the back is the least of my stove worries 😕
(Also needs new Flue as current one has been condemned) 😐

I had one that was just gritstone (same as hearth) slabs on the wall.
I tiled another (needed careful mortaring / minimal gaps).
Get some nice slate – it shouldn’t be expensive.

I had a square metal plate made the same shape of the stove, sides folded in about 2cm. Put a sheet of insulation in. Sprayed plate the same mat black as stove, hung on wall. Looks really neat, cost next to nothing.

I like the look of the Vlaze enamelled heatshields.

I got a sheet of Hardiebacker board from the builders merchants, screwed it to the wall, then tiled over it.
    Works great.
In a shed that is but same shizzle innit.
