My son had his Giant Reign X1 stolen in Taunton last night. It was locked up and they cut through the lock. It's a 2008, with Truvativ Husselfelt cranks and chain device, Race Face stem and seat post, Fox Vanilla 36s, SUN rims with worn Maxxis Minion DH 2.5s. It also has Hayes Stroker Ryde brakes with a Hope disk on the front.
Anyone who sees it or thinks they may have seen it. Please call me on 07736-374018.
    Thanks.
    Paul.

This isn't meant to sound harsh, as I know from personal experience that having a bike stolen is gut wrenching – but didn't your son have a previous bike nicked? He really needs to be a bit more aware of bike security.
Leaving a decent bike locked up outside, even if it is out of sight or in a garden is a recipe for disaster.

Anyway I'm in Taunton a couple of times a week, so I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Will look out down here round Exeter area and will pass the info on..

My bike isn't worth half the value of your lads bike.. and its much, much more than 2 hours old.. and I still have a problem leaving it outside the front door if I have to run back in cos I've forgot my phone..
I won't even leave it locked up outside the shop in plain view if I pop in for a paper..
When it was only two hours old I was ON IT.. not leaving it locked up outside…

Thanks for the replies guys. Problem is my son lives with his mum, not me. He was stoked to finally have a replacement for the bike stolen in November (and in time for our trip to Morzine next week!)that i buckled and said he could keep it at his for the night. Unfortunately the ex doesn't share my love of bikes and wouldn't let him take it through the house. Where it was locked up is out of sight, so i reckon the scum bags saw him riding home and followed him. So no more decent bikes being kept at that house from now on.
Photos on here soon as got some off original owner (decent bloke) along with original bill of sale etc.
    Keep 'em peeled guys.
    Cheers.

Will also keep an eye out in Exe…

    From here; http://www.singletrackworld.com/forums/forum-help/

    Posting an Image

The image must be hosted on the internet somewhere.

If it is on your computer you must first upload it to a photo hosting site. Try a search for image hosting to get you started.

Once you have chosen the image you want to show on the forum you need to find its URL (universal resource locator – its location on the internet).

imagelocationDo this by right clicking on the image and choosing “copy image location” (or similar wording depending on your web browser). Note that this must be the location of the image itself, not the URL of the page it is on.

Then go to the forum and type :

Where ‘http://www.singletrackworld.com/common/logo.png’ is the URL you just retrieved.
If you are linking to an image that you do not own copyright on then you must link back to the originating website by adding the

    [url=http://www.singletrackworld.com/][img]http://www.singletrackworld.com/common/logo.png[/img]" class="bbcode-link"> tag around the

    Warning!

This practice is known as ‘hotlinking’. Some people frown upon hotlinking as it uses their bandwidth to show their image on someone else’s website. To stop this from happening various practices may be deployed. One of which is to supply a different image to the one you wanted to show – quite often a porn image.

As you can imagine we don’t want these images displayed on the forum. Therefore you must be careful about which images you place on this site.

Usually images from manufacturers websites will be OK as it is promoting their product. Images from personal websites are more likely to employ this tactic.

If it happens to an image you post you will often not know what has happened as the image will seem normal to you – this is because the correct one will have already loaded into your cache (web browsers download images and files to stop the need to get the same thing every time you visit a site). Other people will see the replaced image. If you suspect something wrong then clear your browser cache to check – and inform us at moderator@singletrackworld.com as soon as possible.

Note that using the preview option will not show you if an image has been replaced, because the correct one is already loaded into your browsers cache.

If you have no luck posting the image of the nicked bike, email it to me (profile) and I'll sort it for you.

Sorry about your bike but I would NEVER leave my bike locked up anywhere, no matter how good the lock is.
