    Hello –

    1. I need to glue some cable guides for my dropper post to my carbon frame, can anyone suggest the best glue to use that won’t trash the frame if I remove them later? Considering this: http://goo.gl/f7I43b or maybe superglue? These are the guides but the sticky back lasted for < 1 ride : http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/m-part-cable-guides-self-adhesive/rp-prod19014

    2. My previous zip tie solution has scuffed up the smooth frame, how can I restore this – is there some polish / laquer I can buy?

    thanks

    It’s a mountain bike.
Does it really matter if it gets scuffed?

Put some thick heli tape, (or a couple of patches) on first then use cable ties or stronger glue with the M-Part ones.

FWIW, I’ve been using the M-Part ones on a carbon stumpjumper, the first one didn’t last very long but the second one has stayed put for 8+ months, (cue it now falling off on my next ride!)

I use the m-part guides for brake and gear cable routing. Not come loose in 18 months of use (carbon Lurcher). Prep/clean the fixing area well and they should stay put.

As mentioned above. Place some helitape on the frame then glue the mount to that with something permanent. Just peel the tape off with the mount if you end up changing things.

thanks – where would you suggest gettng helitape from?

@guitarhero – it does when it’s new, a year down the line I won’t mind so much. Psychological not necessarily rational.

Loads about on eBay. Just search bike protection tape
