i have a sticking rear piston on an xtr brake
is it easy enough to sort (and if so how) or is it a bike shop job?

pump out the pistons a bit (not all the way!) by squeezing the lever with the rotor out

clean round the pistons with isopropyl alcohol on cotton bud and apply a small amount of lube (eg red rubber grease – I used RSP ultraslick as I know it doesnt eat rubber seals)
don't use mineral oil brake fluid to lube it as its sticky as hell and will get just sticky again as soon as you go off road

    squeeze pistons back in
