Nothing at all against doctors but why do some of them do this when selling stuff like vehicles or bikes? I just noticed a car on another forum with all the “doctor from new” blurb but what does it really mean to me? What does it mean to you? Does it make you want to buy the car more so than the next advert with bad spelling mistakes selling a car with a lower mileage thats looking in better condition that was owned by someone that has been real fussy about it through its life?

Are there any other professions out there that have their share of folk believing the mention of their profession will help?

    Never noticed that.

Might mean driver has often been drunk or high.

Doctors are superior drivers, vastly more intelligent than the general population and clearly very trustworthy*.

I think it tends to imply both that they’re in a “caring” profession (so would, by association, look after their car) and they earn enough to not skimp on any maintenance that needs doing.

Not true at all on either front IME.

When you are buying a car you’re trying to gauge the care and maintenance its had. Perhaps by mentioning the owner is a doctor they’re implying that the owner could well afford to maintain it, and given their important job would have done so to ensure its reliability. (By the same measure they can afford to neglect it and bin it when its goosed)

My surgeon friend told me once that she killed her lover’s wife with her thoughts. Nice car though.

    What’s a ‘Doctor’?

Is it the same as a Doctor?

If it’s as dirty as the average doctor’s house, it’ll be manky inside. 😐

Nearly £7k for a focus that’s done 128k! Doctors are normal people so it would make no difference to me.

You’d think they’d have washed the thing before taking the pictures. Says a lot about how it’s been treated to me.

Their use of capitals in the advert leaves a lot to be desired also.

Never buy a car from a vet! Especially a farm or horse vet.

Someone once described vets driving skills as somewhat like riding a horse point to point. Flogging it hard and occasionally ploughing through fences or hedges.

It also quite difficult to rid of the stench of cow muck and the stains in the upholstery never go!
