I’ll be new mills way Friday and got a few hours to spare before heading home. Could do with a step by step 15 miles ish route that isn’t towards zig/zag rowarth way.

You could try the classic buxton loop

this version starts at the car park by the dam

but we normally start at the layby just south of Whaley Bridge, at the northernmost point of the route.

This link give a text description – we start at point G

I can knock up a GPX if you have a suitable device

EDIT – version starting in Buxton

This is a little variation on one of our night rides as we normally start in Disley. if you want a tcx or gpx let me know and I’ll send one over

Up to New Mills Golf Course, Descend to Strines Station, head past the Paper Mill and up onto Greenshall Lane and then onto Ward Lane, Descend Diglee Farm back to Furness Vale, Cross the road and railway, Climb Ladypit Road and then onto Laneside Road, Up onto Ollersett Moor, Descend to Peep O Day, Over the road and descend Coldwell Clough and the Campsite, Cross over to The Sportsman then either climb up from Farlands Booth onto Middle Moor or go up Snake Path (AKA 20 trees), At the end of Middle Moor, climb Lanehead Road and double back to Blackshaw Farm, take the BW straight ahead across the field, Descend into Rowarth, follow the roads back to Moor End Road crossroads, Straight over leading onto Castle Edge Road and roll back into New Mills.

Cheets for those, I’ll have a proper look when I get home from gym and can get on computer. I’ll definatley have a go at one of them, getting bored of hitting the same areas and all of those go to places I don’t think I’ve been to.
