  • Stem angle / riser height compensation for more sag – Thoughts

    Hi all,

I’ve recently realised I’ve ran too little sag on my Manitou Drakes 100mm for a few years. Their 1st service has highlighted this.

Now the fork is running well post-service, I would like to get some height back lost by running the correct 20+mm ish sag.
Short of a new fork, ideas to regain this height at the grips are either:-

    a) 10 deg from a 6 deg stem
    or
    b) a higher riser bar, currently 20mm Easton I think

Bike is a Merida hard tail from ’06.

    Is my approach alien?

Feel free to tell me to extend my arms more also

    Thanks!!

My thoughts are you shouldn’t change your ride position on the bike if you’ve been happy with it up until now.

I think the question stems, ahhmm, from the now lower front end, due to newly introduced sag in the forks, now feels too low. Or lower than it used to.

So, higher rise bars or an angled stem. Knock your self out. ***

*** This maybe easier said than done with low rise stems and flat bars all the rage. Finding what you want may not be easy.

Ok, thanks for the opinions, I’ve a few well ridden drop offs I’m gonna try. At bigblackshed, yes, I’ve considered building a full suspension for the reason of avoiding the ” all the rage ” trends like flat cars and so on!

    Cheers for comments
