Just riding along on a fairly old steel roadie, and went full pelt into a bin after slipping the front on a patch of mud. Aside form some bloody legs and bruised ribs, everything seems intact. Amazingly the front wheel was still straight, once I'd retrieved it from 10 yards down the road. The quill stem had rotated a bit relative to the fork, and I suspect the forks are bent. Difficult to see by eye but it pulls left when I brake…

I find myself standing up and heaving on the bars quite a lot on my commute (some hills), and having the alu bars snap whilst riding doesn't bear thinking about. Am I being paranoid by looking to replace the whole front end?

In a word no. Even if the bars are OK you'll never feel confident on them.

And will feel worse for my pointing it out 🙄

I suppose every cloud has a silver lining. Time to go shopping 🙂
