I am planning a Stag do for my brother. The decision as to where to go has taken far longer than it needed but that is settle as Bristol although we don’t have to stay there all weekend…

I need some inspiration for what to do on the weekend. I know the default STW response is sometimes that a stag do should consist solely of sitting in a darkened pub and talking times of old but this one needs to feature something in the day.

My idea was bunkhouse accommodation nearby and then a canoe trip on the Wye for the day before dinner, night out and Bristol accommodation but your suggestions would be much appreciated. My inspiration levels are low!

I was in Bristol for a stag a couple of months back.

There’s a place that’s a club-cum-bowling-alley-cum-youth-club type place with pool tables and live music and all sorts that was pretty good for the evening bit. Pretty central – walking distance to anywhere else you’d want to get to.

Was too smashed to remember the name of it though.

I had my stag do around Bristol. Mini-moto in the afternoon (including a nice high-side induced back injury), beers in the evening and then paintball on Sunday. All pretty generic stuff but a good laugh at the time.

    Cheers, Rich

FTW. 🙂 We did ours in the morning to give us a reason to drink beer all afternoon. Flippin class weekend, loved every minute. 🙂

That would be the Lanes, on Nelson Street.

Thanks all, some useful suggestions and potentially the inspiration I need.

    What is cave hut accommodation?

    Keep ’em coming 🙂

A bit cliche, but there are a couple of karting tracks and paintball places

    Off road could be fun;

Had mine in Bristol as well! We went and played Zorb football, was brilliant fun although knackering. Would thoroughly recommend it. Then we went for a meal at zhar zhar bizarre (plenty of choice for everyone) and then the compulsory trip around the pubs

Go on a pub “crawl” round the harbour using the very reasonably priced ferries or get a ferry to the far end and crawl back to the centre:-

    The Grain Barge
    The Pumphouse
    The Nova Scotia
    The Cottage
    The Orchard
    The Ostrich

There are other good pubs a short wobble away from the water.

EDIT – it’s been mentioned above but you don’t need to book a whole ferry, its cheaper just to use it like a bus.

Thanks all. I just looked through all of these and did some researchings.

I quite like the idea of caves but think this might be a bit off-piste!

You could go riding in FoD. They’ve got hire bikes and green trails for the non-riders.
