Just started on my single speed conversion using on-one parts last time i used a 8 speed chain (kit is 3/32 or 1/8) and it worked well. I have heard a few people saying its fine to use a 9 speed chain which i was hoping is the case as i have a few and spare links etc 9 speed o.k?

I have fitted the 9 speed but it is skipping every so often however i have not messed to much with the chain line it looks slightly out by eye so hoping this could be the problem ?

Only found time to throw it on and a quick test ride so far 🙁

Its best to keep it straight,

Are the chain and cog for 1/8″? how does your chain sit on them?

Conversion kit says it uses either size, Chain sits fine on the cogs its the same setup i had on my old bike only last time i swapped to a 8 speed chain as i was told by a friend 9 speed ones don’t work then i read different.

Looking at it now it does seem to be offline slightly going in towards the hub and I’m using a ramped middle ring for now so hopefully that is were its going wrong i will try moving it out tomorrow and see if it helps.
