    Will this happen?

    Also is there any reason why the XX crankset couldnt work for a 2×9 setup? i.e. with X.0 shifters, 9 speed 11-33 cassette and an X.0 derailleur?

    No reason at all.

    XX costs more than X.0 so I doubt X.0 will go down, Force and Rival didn’t really go down when Red came out on the road.
