I have bought some x01 cranks, that I intended to fit a direct mount chainring to. The cranks come with a removable spider that is held in place with splines and three small screws. On the face of it is seems fairly obvious that the direct mount would be fitted the same way as the spider, but looking at pictures of the direct mount chainrings (absolute black) they don’t seem to have the holes for the screws.

Anyone have any experience of this setup?

They don’t go right through – there are ‘notches’ for the bolts, rather than holes.

There are two different offsets in the chainrings – make sure you get the right one for the BB30 cranks.
