It's drivetrain service time shortly and I'm about to splash out on a new cassette.

Apart from a whopping nine quid gap in price, is there any reason why I'd pick a SRAM PG980 over a Shimano XT?

I run a Hope Bulb hub with a Ti freehub if that makes any difference with the recommended alloy cog carrier.

    No, unless lighter.

About twenty five grammes… Utterly minimal.

My main concern is whether the SRAM jobbie will kill my freehub before XT does.

Can't answer on the SRAM vs Shimano comparison, but I recently bought the SRAM PG980 cassette for £35 from CRC – Clicky

with the ti freehub body on a bulb, you're fine with either. I've always thought the sram feels more positive when shifting, the shimano feels smoother. Take your pick. Personally, I always use XT but that's mostly because I swap wheels between bikes and it just makes sure the setup doesn't need a tweak each time.

That's all the info I need.

    Many thanks guys.
