Just read the instructions that came with a Sram BB – it says after exposure to significant water (heavy rain etc) the BB should have its bearing seals removed and regreased immediately, or 50 hrs of dry riding

That’ll be every winter ride in the UK then – no wonder they don’t last long

How many do this I wonder, if at all?

On the plus side, they’re less terrible than they were.

Superstar sell a GXP BB which has had some good reviews, or there’s the Hope option. I just got the Hope conversion kit which I’m going to try and fit to a Shimano-compatible BB, what’s the worst that can happen?

    ^ like it 🙂

Yeh, I’ll wait (not long) till this one dies and go Hope probably. The one is another bike has never seen maintenance and is still going 9 months on
