I'm guessing not, so will I have to use the Shimano joining pins?

No, use a KMC joining link instead: http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=A0308

I asked a while ago. The answer was a definite "don't try it, it doesn't work"

I bough a KMC 10 speed power link instead.

Like these only the price seems to have gone up

\edit – BOOM, beaten to it.

10 speed SRAM powerLOCK is what you need young man. It does exactly what it says and therefore isn't a QR to break the chain again.

Can't see why not although it will obviously be slightly loose as it's wider. Really depends on the spacing of the cassette but as I've run 8 speed chains on 9 speed cassettes and vice versa without a problem it should be ok.

    If it's not you'll soon know 😉

I did it to get my home, made a few funny noises in the highest gear, but did a job

KMC joining link is fine. Pretty sure that the Sram 10spd Powerlock is not re-usable.
