  • Split tube source for fatbike tubeless?

I’ve slashed my fatbike (Calibre Dune) tyre shredding the chubby gnar, so need to redo all my tubeless setup after I repair the tyre.

I did it tubeless before and it’s lasted ages and been faultless but the 24×2.5″ tubes I got hold of originally were right on the limit of reaching across my rim bed. I managed it but it was tight. I’d rather have a bit more to play with and trim the excess.

    So, I’m after..

    24 inch
    Presta valve
    2.6″or above width.

    Anyone got a source?

OnOne used to do some for the baby Fatty. Not light though.

I’ve probably got the ones I used, somewhere, but I won’t be able to post til I get back from the alps week after next…

Everyone used to recommend the schwalb AV10D but the AV10 works great ime- it’s exactly the right width for the Dune rims, and it cheaper and lighter.

Decathlon. Their bog standard 24″ tube splits to about 100mm wide.

I left the excess (about 5mm each side) hanging out as I didn’t want the faff of it shrinking back if the tyre ever does come off.

Thanks Northwind. I saw those but figured at 2.5 they’d be the same as what I had previously.

I’ll have to have a look at the decathlon ones too thanks TINAS next time I’m near a store.

I think the problem is magnified when the tube falls into the rim valley. Packing it out with foam is what I had to do to reduce it.

    I’ll try those tubes ta.

If you cut the AV10s cleanly down the middle then the tube sits right across the bed, and right up the side of the bead- so really just like you get if you cut a bigger tube down to the edge of the rim. You need to be a bit more exacting with your cut and placement but that’s all

Don’t/didn’t Specialised do a 24″ kids fatty a year or two back. Presumably they will have done appropriate tubes?

I have up after trying a couple of tubes and just used gorilla repair tape on my fat front to go tuneless

Yep. Evans have them. Not cheap though and Schrader only.

I just used the wide gorilla tape on my rims and 16 months later it’s still holding up. Not had a single puncture.
