    Anyone else see it?

East Lancs Railway’s 1940’s weekend, so off to Bury via Rawtenstall yesterday for a look around.

    linky

‘Twas good, but not quite as packed as in previous years – decent beer in the station at Bury, lots of Capt Mainwaring lookalikes, great music, cake, steam trains, a good atmosphere and lots of sunshine.

They’d banned German uniforms this year, although a couple of weirdos still managed to sneak on the platform dressed like refugees from ‘Springtime to Hitler’.

Highlight was the Spitfire and Hurricane flypast:
Very noisy and they came back for a much lower second pass 🙂

Not my vid, but you get the idea.

More acticities today and tomorrow, (not the flypast though, sadly) well worth £3.00 for a platform ticket at Bury.
Lots going on at Rammy too.
