I’ve heard of this on some modern estates – bans on sign-written vans, keeping poultry, hanging out washing and the like. They like everyone to be neat little conformists, living lives of quiet desperation.

There’s a ban on keeping caravans in the deeds of my house. I still have a caravan here. From what I can tell, there’s no-one that can actually enforce such a thing, so balls to it.
