I have a pair of Deore XT SPD’s M770. Have tried looking online for a replacement axle for one of them and cannot find anything – do such things exist and if so, where can I get one?

Or do you think it’s a lost cause and I should just stick some old M520’s on that I’ve got in my shed?

    Many thanks.

If its like all ‘replaceable’ bike parts (Shimano included) the parts often end up as expensive as replacing the whole thing. There is almost no point replacing Shimano chainrings seperately for instance.

I’ve not spotted any replacement axles for the SPDs. I’d probably drop back to the M520s or see if you can pick up a nearly new set of XTs on eBay.

Axles are available from Madison with an RRP of £24.99 each!

Say whaaaaaaat – £24.99 for an axle?!

Looks like the 520’s will be going on then. I’m sure I paid about £50 for the pair of XT spuds (complete).

Is this a deliberate pricing so we just either pay it or have to go out and buy another pair cos it’s not worth replacing parts…pffft!
