First up, I'm guilty of not using search to see if a similar question has been posted recently. Sorry.

I'm after a pair of SPD shoes with a leaning towards cross country, but I do a lot of hike a bike up in the highlands. So they need to be racy AND comfy to walk in. I understand compromise may be involved.

I've got an old pair of Shimano winter boots already, and overshoes somewhere, so weatherproofing isn't important. Summer shoes – which shall also be used with my tourer.

I've got a pair of Sidi Dominators in mind, but they're really stretching the budget. Any cheaper shoes that I should be considering?

    Thank you in anticipation.

I've got some Sidi shoes (can't remember which ones) which only cost about €100, they're a couple of years old now and perfectly fine.

Can't go wrong with Sidi, IMO.

Go for the SIDI's, they will last years. I was stretching the budget at the time but you wont care in a few months.
