Are any of the sections of this totally superb or totally crap from a riding point of view? I’m thinking of a two or three day ride over part of it in August.

I’ve ridden bits on Minch Moor and near Wanlockhead before, but not the rest. And yes, I know it’s a walking trail, but the reality is hardly any walkers ever use it.

St Mary’s Loch to Traquair is a grassy climb followed by a grassy descent.
I’d do Traquair XC from Inners car park to Minchmoor instead of SUW (not much ,longer)
Minchmoor to Selkirk (3 brethern)is great.
3 Brethern to Gala is ok, as is Gala to Melrose and Melrose to Earlston.

Never been any further north tha that

I believe I rode a part of it at Glentrool.
If so it wasn`t very interesting.

for a 2/3 day ride I would start @ Sanquhar(would ride Enterkin Burn track instead of SupW, too much hiking on that bit) to Moffat to Peebles etc.

Do a train from Dumfries to Sanquhar and then bike back trip occasionally. Not too many of my mates keen on 50/60 milers these days

Bit of a big hike up from the Daer Res

Often thought about Moffat to Peebles and back as a weekend ride, just never seem to get it on
