Just got a lovely Gore Phantom softshell, now need a teeny waterproof that I can put on over it in heavy downpours. Priorities are: Waterproof, packs small, cheap, breathable, in that order.

Does the Polaris Aqualite fit the bill?

(and not sure you’d get anywhere near both for ‘cheap’). I had a Montane pack-a-mac thing, about the size of a tennis ball for around £35 on CRC. It was fine for a shower / brief downpour but you’d start sweating after too long, or it’d start leaking…
