Eva Cassidy – Fields of Gold

Played at my good friends brothers funeral. He was 25 and killed in a motorcycle accident. Wasn’t a dry eye in the place, RIP Ryan.

Friends – The Beatles , the Wet Wet Wet version doesn’t do it though.

As with many of the above it’s a funeral song , a really good mate who was killed in a motorbike accident when I was 17. He was just about the only person I’ve ever met in my life that had no enemies ,the crematorium had a crowd stood outside as there wasn’t room inside for everybody.

A lot of Richard Thompson stuff bring a tear to my eye…’How Will I Ever be Simple Again’ being one.

However ‘Sunset’ when played by the Royal Marines gets me every single time I hear it.

Daddy Sang Bass – Johnny Cash. Reminds me of my fantastic late grandparents.
Paradise – Richard Ashcroft. Makes me think about the birth of my daughter.
Going to get some stick for this one but… Unknown Caller by U2. The line in there saying “Shout for joy – if you get the chance!” I always think of my miracle twin boys – who shouldn’t be here, but for whom each day is a chance for happiness…

I’m not blubbing for anyone but Two Little Boys it has to be. I was about 4 when it came out and anyone who had a brother at that time, the song was written just for them.
Also God Save The Queen , Advance Australia Fair and Waltzing Matilda. Waltzing Matilda is a strong contender at my funeral. A whole new thread waiting to be done.

Currently the unprintable ****ed Up, with One More Night. There’s just something about a furious 300 lb man bellowing a love song that’s strangely irresistable. Maybe it’s because it takes some effort to decipher the lyrics.

I was sort of half joking with 2 little boys earlier (though it sure is bit of a spine tingled at times) but thinking about it Rolf seems to have bit of a tallent with emotional songs. I first saw this one Christmas eve round my man’s house when I was a kid. She sadly died late last year and this thread popping up and seeing her house go on the market today made me remeber this song.

Dam you Rolf you nearly got me this time!

The old boy croaked just after Rolf shuts the door at the end in the film!
