    …..and this year seems to be one of them. It may be my imagination, but it is a long time since I’ve seen the hills so purple with heather blossom.

    Aye, Pitfichie, heading up the the red descent.
    Bennachie and Millstone are ace for the up to along ratio!

    It’s been a fair while since I was at Pitfichie. When I could ride to Scolty from my front door in 15 minutes there wasn’t a lot of incentive!

    Also, never really rode Bennachie as when I was starting mtbing they banned bikes from it (iirc that’s why Pitfichie was opened up). Always thought it was too busy… I miss the silhouette (I used to live in Insch).

    I was thinking the same about the Heather. Duchess drive and Minch Moor were pretty impressive in the sunshine.

    I think you are right, this year does seem to be more colourful.
    On the Moor tops over Pately/Kirkby Moorside way its in proper full colour.

    I wonder what the late Autumn will bring.

    Moors above Hamsterley are very purple this year
